Insulation & Drywall

So remember how I said that the house was on pause for a little bit...?

Apparently I was wrong.

Look, a pile of bricks!!!

See how there are two colors of drywall?
The color around the tub is mold/moisture resistant.

One of our guest bedrooms has a whole wall of closet space.

Now for the first bad news I've had on the house.
This past weekend it rained...
and rained...
and rained some more...
for 3 days straight. Hard.

Which settled the dirt that had been backfilled and created a pond.
The fix? They will just have to put more dirt in to get the grade sloping away from the house.
I am glad that the dirt is settled though. Now I don't have to worry about it happening after getting landscaping in.

But no, we did not have power this past rainy weekend...thus no sump pump...thus water in the basement.
We're convinced now that when we finish the basement:
1) no carpet. it has to be hard finishes that don't make a stinky mess after getting wet. and...
2) we probably need a small generator at some point to power the sump in the case of a natural disaster if our power should be so uncooperative as to go out.

So, they got the sump pump powered and going, but the drain line isn't run clear away from the house yet, so the water spits out and promptly drains right back into the pond at the foundation...not particularly helpful.
This warrants the first phone call I will have to make to tell them to do something better.

We are happy to see things still moving along, even if there was a slight hiccup.
