Brielle is here!

Brielle DeEtte Losee was born at 2:52 pm on April 28th, 2009 and weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz and was 20 inches long.

Melynda and her baby.
She had a heavy dose in her epidural so those legs were numb for a while.

Grandma Jann and Brielle.

The newly minted Grandpa.

I am so very glad that things went well and that everyone is recovering OK. Yay!

Remember this post where I showed you some minor improvements that I made to some old pictures using Google Picasa?

Well, we're back for another round, but this time I've been messing with some of my bridal photos.

Before

After

Did you notice that I full on edited out my {bright red} bouquet?

Before

After.

If look at the first picture you can see that there is a sign right in the middle of the tall grass in the background and then a marker pole in the top right corner of the background.
I edited those right out, including taking the reflection of the pole out of the water.
Oh, it is just so much fun!

Before

After.

Just brightened and cropped.

Brightened by filling with light, increasing the highlights, and darkening the shadows.

Tentative Spring

Well, considering it has done this on the U of M campus in the past three days:

...I think it safe to say that we are finally experiencing the initial stages of a Michigan Spring.
Pretty.

5K

This morning we went and participated in a University of Michigan 5K.
By "we" I mean Curt ran and I rooted for him while reading my Martha Stewart Living magazine.

From the starting point of the race you could see the stacks of the power plant I work at.

This was the group of evening MBA students who participated.
We all went to a cafe for brunch afterwards and it was very enjoyable.

Here Curt is putting on a last burst of speed at the end.

He ended up doing the 3 miles in 21 minutes and 28 seconds, earning him a 9th place overall finish, and a 3rd place in his age group, thus the spiffy certificate below.
Way to go my in-shape husband! You kicked butt!

I {heart} Costco

As a married couple in Utah we had a Costco within five minutes from us at both our apartment and house. It was wonderful.
Here it is much farther, so we do planned monthly Costco runs.

Yesterday (Saturday) was one of those runs.

I stocked my freezer with meal size portions of roasts and ground beef...

...we got the Costco boxes of cereal that have not one, but two bags in each box...

And all on the cheap. Super cool.

Hey, wanna know how crazy we are?
I know you do.

In addition to the cereal shown above on our spiffy new shelves...
...here's my lazy susan...

...and the pantry...

...and we have a few more bags of cereal on the table but I don't want to show you because it is messy...
...and I have a few boxes at work that I eat for lunches...
Insane. I know.

But hey, we have some water storage. Fun, huh?

Houses...continued

Curt did some surface level research on realtor.com and found this house that we saw near the temple.
Feast your eyes:

Houses...

The Detroit Temple is in a very nice area about 16 miles north of downtown Detroit.
Curt voiced the observation that 16 miles doesn't seem like very far, but it really seems like a different planet than the warzone downtown looks like.
I was drooling over the houses.

Yeah, I know the last one wasn't a house, but isn't it drool worthy also?
I think so.
