January, February, March

January:

 {still working on trim in our dining room...shot a finish nail and it hit a metal piece in the wall just wrong and it curved around and went through the tip of my finger...in and out. mystified as to how there's no blood on the nail, as I had two holes in my finger.}

 {pretty crazy curving. my finger healed quickly}

 {ready to go to my friends' wedding...I played their photographer}

 {painting the finished trim}

 {January daffodils}

 {had Curt's work team over for a get together}

 {the children banished themselves to the play room to watch a movie during the party because adults are boring}

 {I flew to Utah for a day to celebrate Jann's birthday}

 {being airplanes with dad}

{last little bit}

{love the end result}

 {always crossword puzzles with this one}

{great bed switcheroo of 2020 happened. New (to us) bunk beds replaced the crib and toddler bed in the baby's room, we got a twin to replace the queen in Evie's room to give her more space}

 {received sad news that my cousin, Von, had passed away. I wasn't able to make it for the funeral because Curt was heading out to India for work, but here's my siblings and dad visiting my grandma at the care facility she stays at when they went down for the viewing}

 {Curt's view over Bangalore...he was gone for almost a week but like half of that time was spent getting there and back, so far away}

 {crazy hair day at school}

 {crazy to look back on it now, but the first inklings that a serious illness was circulating the world had filtered through the consciousness and so Curt had a mask while he traveled}

 {souvenirs}

February:

{when it rains hard for a long time our field becomes a river}

 {Des is still into Star Wars...drawing during church}

{friends came over to have cake for Edison's birthday}

 {Evie at the regional poetry recitation with one of her teachers}

 {loading up for our Florida beach trip}

 {Des had a birthday}

 {racing something in the hall}

 {we had a pine wood derby at church that Des and Evie got to participate in}

{we got a new bishopric at church}

 {Curt had a work meeting at a conference room overlooking the zoo}

 {helping with weekend pancakes}

March:

 {Des and his partner at the Science Olympiad competition}

 {a park visit with friends that happened right before, at least to my perspective, the whole world changed with the COVID-19 pandemic. A couple days later the NBA cancelled the season, school shut down for a couple days, then weeks, then the rest of the school year.}

 {Curt started working from home...14+ hour days 7 days a week for a bit dealing with the ramifications as travel practically halts overnight, now it's down to a 4 day work week at home. Started out in the dining room with just his laptop, ended up with a more permanent large screened work station set up in our bedroom (locking door makes for better work privacy with four kids at home)}

 {I started demoing our master bath}

 {cute school work at home}

 {re-read 'Just Mercy' for book club...if you haven't read that book yet, I highly recommend}

 {Des with tree roots for a school scavenger hunt}

{empty cleaning supply and meat department shelves, everyone stocking up to stay at home}

 {watched Katherine and Steven's wedding through a google meetup}

 {walked in on an impromptu yoga session in the play room}

 {love when the dogwood trees bloom}

{quarantine baking}

 {everything greening up and blowing pollen all over everything}

 {tried potty training for a minute, abandoned that, will try again later}

 The world shutting down brought cancellations of every type, I was supposed to take the GRE in March...now maybe? scheduled for May. We had a bunch of major stuff go away in April (will cover that when I blog about this month), but we are home all together, we have enough of everything we need, and the slower pace of life has really been one where our family thrives. Counting ourselves lucky on that front.
