Arboretum

This afternoon we took a field trip to a neat place in the heart of Ann Arbor called the Arboretum. It is basically a gigantic preserve of sorts with a few gardens and a lot of walking/hiking trails. We think it's a gem.

This is actually the pond out behind our apartment. I've blogged about it before, but it was looking especially pretty this morning.

Curt heading through what they called their "prairie" section.

A shot of us with the "prairie" in the background. You can also see (if you look real close) a University of Michigan building peeking over the trees. This whole place is literally between central and north campus, in the center of the city. I can't tell you how cool this is.

Wow, trees this big are so majestic.

Pretty.

These are the peony gardens, apparently they are not in bloom at the moment. But when they do they grow flowers like the following...one of my favorites!

This was a surprise vista. We came down a big, heavily wooded hill on a small, switch-back path and ran across this...a huge rambling, mowed field where college students were playing frisbee and laying out trying to get a tan.
