5K

This morning we went and participated in a University of Michigan 5K.
By "we" I mean Curt ran and I rooted for him while reading my Martha Stewart Living magazine.

From the starting point of the race you could see the stacks of the power plant I work at.

This was the group of evening MBA students who participated.
We all went to a cafe for brunch afterwards and it was very enjoyable.

Here Curt is putting on a last burst of speed at the end.

He ended up doing the 3 miles in 21 minutes and 28 seconds, earning him a 9th place overall finish, and a 3rd place in his age group, thus the spiffy certificate below.
Way to go my in-shape husband! You kicked butt!

I didn't know you took up running, Curt. Not a bad time, either. I keep wanting to do a marathon -- I did a half-marathon last fall -- but I never seem to have the time to get the training in.

Marathon? No thanks...

This run was pretty fun, the 2nd half was mostly uphill.

I took up running last year, after moving to Michigan. It's always been indoors on the treadmill though. At my peak (and when the pounds were literally melting off), I was running 6 miles a day, 5 days a week. I had to ease off though because my ankles started to hurt. Now I do half that, but do the elliptical for 30 minutes after the treadmill.
