the beach for Thankgiving

We're still staying away from people so this year we spent Thanksgiving week at our favorite beach.

We drove down Tuesday afternoon, and arrived in time to see the (very early this time of year) sunset.

The next morning I watched the sunrise while the kids ate breakfast, then we started what became a routine for the whole week: get out on the beach early, play all morning, go in at lunch time (which coincided with the time the beach got more crowded with people, spend the afternoon reading/watching shows/napping, dinner, family movie night, put the kids to bed, Curt and I read until we go to bed.
We got there Tuesday the 24th and left Sunday the 29th.

{the absolute best to get the place to ourselves each morning}

{the first couple days had really big waves, the last days smooth water...fun to see both}

{pretty much wore this one out, he *loves* digging in the sand}

{I just cannot get enough of the sky and water, so beautiful and ever changing}

{my new phone camera has low light capabilities, this was taken in complete darkness...technology is amazing}

{a Thanksgiving morning sunrise}

{they would hold hands to be more sturdy so the waves wouldn't knock them over...Thanksgiving Day was the most amazing weather, so warm and lovely}

{We pre-ordered a small section of Honeybaked Ham before we went down...apparently we weren't the only ones with the idea though, the drive through line Curt had to wait in the day before Thanksgiving to pick it up wound around the block and took close to two hours. But this was an amazing tasting, low effort meal with some frozen bake rolls on the big day.}

{went on an evening family walk up the beach}

{Friday morning emerged as a foggy one}

{this was a funny morning...our umbrella must have acted as a visual road block because by the time we were wrapping up our beach time this was our view on one side of us...

...and this was up the beach on the other side. Not complaining, glad they gave us our space :)  }

{the baby lines up all the sand tools}

{afternoons of quiet electronics and naps.}

{Friday night ice cream run}

{For a family movie night we introduced them to 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks', a favorite from growing up}

{Saturday was the last beach day...amazing teal and green in the water}

{Two kids were kind of done playing on the beach so they settled in with some books}

{One last sunrise and then we headed back home, we had to get back because I had a virtual meeting with some classmates that afternoon to prep for our final presentation the following day in my real estate development class}

{stopped by the Donut Hole on the way out and sent Curt in to get a dozen}
