Entry Accent Wall: Fun Trim

So, over my Christmas break from work I was able to paint all of my downstairs and make some significant headway on a wall in my entryway that I wanted to accent with trim.
Then it sat.
...and sat...
...and sat...

...until I had a baby and could move around again, then I was able to finish painting it...
what do you think?:

Here is a before if you want a reference:

As with any project you want to be successful, I started with a plan.  Drawing it out a little bit and taking measurements helped me to put together an accurate list of what I needed to get from the store.

First I painted the upper portion of the wall...

For the trim, I started by putting up the 1x4 primed mdf pieces.
On some of the tricky cuts, instead of measuring and trying to figure out angles, I just made a template out of wrapping paper (which is the gray on the following picture).
Helps to avoid mistakes.

All finished with the 1x4s...

Then I added some trim pieces on all of the inside edges and along the top...

Then I caulked (and caulked, and caulked some more) and painted, and was satisfied.
