job sites I manage...

It's pretty fun seeing a couple of the projects that I have managed wrap up. Here's a couple pictures of the townhomes we've built in Pleasant Grove and in Sandy, UT. If you want to see more pictures feel free to go to our website at www.castlewooddevelopment.com (also feel free to give me suggestions on the company website, I'm still working on it).

An 8-plex in Sandy

A walk way behind a couple buildings at PG

These homes in Sandy have a fun backyard, right on the other side of the 4-rail fence is a golf course. As you can see they had just put this sod in, and some of it hasn't taken root yet.

Series #4

For those of you who hadn't heard, with my new position that I started a months back, I was required to get an additional license. Yesterday, I took the Series #4 and passed with flying colors. The series 4 (for those who don't know) is taken after the series 7 and is to become a "registered options principle". Exciting times. Now that that is out of the way, I will begin studying for other optional licenses, more on that later.

Demolition Derby

Last night, I got introduced to the classic redneck sport of demolition derby. Carmen's sister works at the ticket office and scored us some tickets. We didn't realize how good of tickets they were until we were shown our seats. Front row, 50 yard line seats. We were so close, I got hit by dirt spun off from the tires! We didn't bring our regular camera, so you'll have to settle for a camera phone picture.
This is one of the cars that lost. It was the Gumby car and there is a cut-out of Gumby on the roof. Strangely enough, there are cars that got beat up worse that this one that made it further. This guy was doing really good, but got slammed into the barricade so hard it knocked it over and crunched his tires so bad they wouldn't spin any more. I've never seen anyone abuse a car so bad, and keep on going. They have fluid draining all over the place, parts falling off, etc. This picture was taken after the "main event" from where we were seated. After each round, they have a few dozen people walk the course to get rid of stray car parts, and they take the losers away either with a tow truck or a forklift.

This picture is just one I found online, but the one we were at was almost as big. There were a few thousand people there and about 25 different cars. I had a really good time and wouldn't be opposed to going again (so long as I don't have to go to a rodeo, that would be lame). I didn't quite know what to expect, but I think Jann summed it all up when she leaned to me after the first heat and said "you are now officially trailer trash"

4th of July...

HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!! Well, as we can all see I have problems operating a camera without making it blurry... so sorry. We had a BBQ at our house for the holiday with my Mom, Dad, and Step-Mom (and of course Shane). Curt grilled up some oh-so-fantastic steaks on the early birthday present and then we had the traditional homemade vanilla ice cream. Afterwards we had some fireworks, one of the many times we love living in a circle. This is the first year that I think Shane was truly excited for them.

This is the contrast between Shane (a little boy loving being out of school for the summer and spending every minute of it outdoors) and Dad (someone who has to work while the sun is out, plus I can't ever remember seeing him in shorts). Pretty Startling.

I had taken a picture of everyone together waving, but it was so blurry you couldn't see people. So we get a uninvolved candid shot of everyone watching Shane be excited.

Me and Shaners with sparklers, my all time favorite!

Curt's Birthday (early)

For my birthday this year, I got a grill! I don't have a picture of it, but this is a picture of the model. I know, I know, my birthday isn't for another 2 weeks, but I already knew what I was getting, and I wanted to be able to grill on the 4th of July. Carmen doesn't like getting surprised, and so didn't want to surprise me (plus she needed someone who could lift the dang thing and load into the back of the car).

It's also nice, because I get home first every day, now I can grill up burgers, chicken, steaks, or whatever before Carmen gets home. Speaking of which, I would really like the recipe for the chicken on a stick. I remember is being easy, but I don't remember the exact ingredients.
